Plot Dessau Dancers (2014):
Im Sommer 1985 entflammt ein amerikanischer Kinofilm auch die Jugendlichen in der DDR: "Beatstreet" sorgt für volle Kinos und in der Folge für ein neues Phänomen in den Straßen - Breakdance! Der 18-jährige Frank ist wie elektrisiert, und gründet mit gleich gesinnten Freunden in Dessau die "Break Beaters". Die Truppe tanzt auf der Straße und bildet bald die Speerspitze der Breakdance-Bewegung in der DDR. Doch schneller als es ihnen lieb ist, wird auch die Staatsmacht auf die Straßentänzer aufmerksam. Und die behält gern die Kontrolle über die Freizeitaktivitäten ihrer Jugend. Denn was die DDR nicht verbieten kann, versucht sie zu kontrollieren - ergo muss das Vorhaben sozialistisch werden! So wird aus Breakdance "akrobatischer Schautanz" und die "Break Beaters" werden als Vorzeigetruppe aufgebaut, durch das Land geschickt und bald gefeiert wie Rockstars. Doch der Ruhm hat seinen Preis und Frank wird langsam bewusst, dass dieser ganz schön hoch ist.Filmdetails
